I- ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Masters Students Mobility


To be eligible for a scholarship, master students must comply with the following criteria set out below at the time of the application.

  1. Be a national and resident in any of the eligible countries covered by the Programme;
  2. Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from;
  3. For Target Group I: Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from one of the HEIs included in the partnership as a partner;
  4. For Target Group II: Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from a HEI not included in the partnership as a partner but established in an eligible country.
  5. Have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses in the host countries.
  6. Students can only benefit from one scholarship within the same project under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme-2021 regardless of the type of mobility or the funding project.
  7. Students having benefited from scholarship(s) under the previous Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Scheme cannot receive scholarships under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme.
  8. No mobility flows for student between institutions located within a single country of the partnership are eligible.

 

2. Doctorate Students Mobility


To be eligible for a scholarship, doctoral students must comply with the following criteria set out below at the time of the application.

  1. Be a national and resident in any of the eligible countries covered by the Programme.
  2. Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from:
  • For Target Group I: Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from one of the HEIs included in the partnership as a partner.
  • For Target Group II: Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from a HEI not included in the partnership as a partner but established in an eligible country.
  1. Have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses in the host countries.
  2. Students can only benefit from one scholarship within the same project under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme-2021 regardless of the type of mobility or the funding project.
  3. Students, having benefitted from scholarship(s) under the previous Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Scheme, cannot receive scholarships under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme.
  4. No mobility flows for students between institutions located within a single country of the partnership are eligible.

 

3. Academic and Administrative Staff Mobility


The staff mobility, academic and administrative staff, offers additional opportunities for personal and professional development through the possibility of doing practical training, researching and teaching in a partner institution with the duration of 1 or 2 months of effective work. This type of mobility always involves the active participation in teaching, research and in the daily life of office activities. By submitting his/her application the applicant must be aware not only of the eligibility criteria but also of the tasks that the mobility will demand.

In order to be eligible for a scholarship academic and administrative staff must comply with the following criteria at the time of the application for a scholarship:

  • Be a national and resident in any of the eligible countries covered by the Programme.
  • Work for full time in a one of the partner university.
  • Have not benefited in the past from an Intra Africa scholarship for the same type of mobility.
  • Academic and administrative staff can only benefit from one scholarship within same project under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme regardless of the type of mobility or the funding project.
  • No mobility flows for staff between institutions located within a single country of the partnership are eligible.
  • Have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries.

 

II- SELECTION CRITERIA

          For admission into the TAFSA program, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Should hold a Bachelor’s or a Master degree of at least a second class or equivalent standing from an accredited and qualifying University.
  • Candidates should apply to only one academic programme of their choice in an eligible host institution and country.
  • Applicants must apply to a university outside of their home country
  • Female candidates and candidates with disabilities are highly encouraged to apply.

Selection of beneficiaries of the TAFSA Mobility Program follows a 2- step process i.e.,

  1. Admission of the candidate to the host institution for the program applied for, and
  2. Selection of candidates for the TAFSA scholarship award.

Selection of scholarship applicants is carried out by a designated TAFSA admission committee. The committee will evaluate the eligibility for TG-I candidates based on TAFSA’s selection criteria which include the student's academic profile, professional background, and motivation. TAFSA scholarship selection criteria ensure equitable access, inclusion, and will give opportunity to participants from all backgrounds, including those with fewer opportunities such as junior academic staff, professional athletes, disadvantaged people, people living with disabilities and women.

The assessment of eligibility of candidate will follow the following criteria:

    1. Proof that the candidate is from an eligible country;
    2. The candidate fulfils the Target Group (TG) requirements;
    3. The application deadline is respected;
    4. The right application form is used;
    5. All required supporting documents are provided and are official and legible;

The application is in the language of instruction for that host institution and country (see mobility table below).
