Iwork as an Economist in Tanzania. My role as an Economist includes coordinating the overall economic development in the Region; advising and coordinating implementation of various sector policies in the Local Government Authorities; preparing and scrutinizing budgets, and monitoring & evaluating the Government and Donors-funded development projects. About my educational background, I graduated from University of Dar es Salaam with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Arts degree in Rural Development from Sokoine University of Agriculture.
I am currently doing MSc in Agricultural and Applied Economics (CMAAE) at Makerere University, Uganda. I hope the course will enhance my critical thinking and independent thinking skills, which are essential skills for agricultural economists. My motivation for choosing this program was driven by my personal and professional aspirations. With the knowledge that will be gained from my course, I will be able to work more closely with smallholder farmers particularly in handling agriculture issues in my profession.
Being part of the TAFSA scholarship beneficiary means a lot to me, I am glad that I am among those who are fulfilling the objective of enhancement of human capacity in the agricultural sector in Africa. Soon after completion of the course, my work scope will be much more expanded and lead to increased roles and responsibilities. I will also be more confident to engage in different dialogues to discuss policy reforms in order to transform the agricultural sector.
In relation to my elective courses and CMAAE curriculum, I am interested in agricultural and rural development; agricultural project planning and management; microfinance, financial inclusion, and small enterprise development. My goals for the future are to positively impact the lives of rural communities and play a role in helping smallholder farmers to adopt sustainable means of livelihood. I also hope to continue to share my knowledge and skills with other stakeholders so as to make a difference in our country.
